eBay sales in decline.

I just wanted to understand if anyone else has experienced a decline on sales throughout 2017 on eBay?

From my experience, up until around March17 we were receiving between 40-60 eBay sales per day and have seen this slowly decline month-on-month and am now receiving 3-4 sales per day, although now and again for some reason I suddenly get the odd day or two where we have major spike in sales again.

My main selling lines are low value commodity products that we are very, very competitive have had great feedback on, have more than enough product specifics, images and good content and I have maintained my listings being visible on the 1st page usually in the top 5 listings – although I suspect that this may not be the case if I were to use an alternative eBay login from a different IP address.

I regularly check down dectector and can see that between waking hours that eBay UK’s outrage report is always showing at very least in orange but more than not is in red signalling serious issues with the site, in addition I have also noticed that many sellers are making complaints similar to my experience and so I just wanted to know if anyone from UE as experienced a major decline in sales or is this just me!

Thanks in advance for any feedback and or advice.

Same here, we sell low value products mostly under £6.99 and would generally sell 50 items, sales have dropped off a cliff over the last year, had a rush today at 10 but been averaging 5.
Multiple problems with ebay over the last couple of months including additional postage being marked to free.
Items being ended without notification because ebay do not recognize the MPN.

And this week I spent 4 hours on the phone with ebay regarding global shipping>
We only sell outside the UK by global shipping and we received notification email from ebay confirming the sale through the global shipping program, once I checked the order there was no global shipping added just the domestic postage.
I phoned ebay who told me to post directly to the buyer in France, not to the global shipping program center in the UK.
If i did not post the item and they left negative feedback it would not be removed.

I explained that domestic postage does not cover this but there response was “nothing wrong at there end”
After being transferred 3 times they promised to phone me back later that day, I’m still waiting 4 days later.

Hi Michael,
Only just seen your original post – but YES, we have had exactly the same issue since earlier in the year, like you.
Our products average cost is £17, but sales dropped off a cliff.
After many phone calls with eBay, (they said ‘nothing wrong this end’ only suggested Sales/Promotions) we are still in the same boat.

If you should eventually figure out an answer to this – we’d appreciate a heads up.

All the best
Val and Steve

Has anyone seen any similar drop in Amazon? Or maybe there are competitors on eBay who are undercutting? This is strange as it is, since by now sales should be picking up close to the holidays.
