Products not going into categories on import

Hello,

I have been using magmi for the last 4 months and it had been working perfectly for me. Uploading products on a daily basis and everything else you would want from an e-website.

However, the products no longer seem to be going into there categories as they used to. I was hoping you could advise?

I have a few supplier feeds, taking one in particular. It has a column called category. I Use magmi column mapper to map it as categories. In magento I have the root category, i then have category X, Category Y, Category Z. Under those Categories I have sub categories Sub-category A, Sub category B so on and so forth. IN the supplier feed a particular product will have category Y/sub-category A.

However it does not seem to be mapping to the category upon import where it had done in the past.

Can I give you any more information to help me.

Thanks for any help in advance.
Chris

Hey Chris,

Matt is our resident Magmi expert, I will ask him to take a look at this for you. As you will know having used Magmi for so long ‘it just works’ and 99% of the time when something goes wrong, it’s a data issue, hopefully Matt can shed some light on this.

Howdy Chris,

As Dave mentioned about, almost always its the data rather than Magmi.

So I would suggest picking on just one product, see if it’s importing correctly and make any changes as required.

Also a daft suggestion is to check the profile you’re using to make sure the mapped columns are set and that the categories plugin is enabled for that profile.

hello,

Fixed!

As expected it was not magmi. turned out to be something to do with file location. Had not touched the data just changed its location and it worked. Strange.

Thanks.
