Hi,
This is a last resort as I’m feeling like I’m banging my head against a brick wall. I have a Magento site that is being developed by my team and we are in the process of building a despatch manager so we can process all the shipments. I have contacted My Hermes and they have told me that they only give API’s to Corperate customers, no exceptions. Has anybody had one of these that we could use or any information how we can get hold of one as manually processing each order is taking forever when I know that this should be automated so the process should be quicker. I have also contacted Parcelhub who have quoted us more per parcel than we pay myhermes ourselves so no go there.

Hey Kay,

Hmmm I haven’t come across one for MyHermes before and haven’t personally dealt with them either as a courier.

Has anyone else had experience with MyHermes?

Also Kay is there a reason you have to use MyHermes? Are they the cheapest for your products?

Thanks for the reply. Yes we use Hermes as the items we sell are low value so if customers buy only a couple we use Royal Mail and if customers buy more we use Hermes. It’s all down to cost as our customers think you only pay £1 to send a parcel these days. We are in the process of getting a API from Royal Mail but still banging our heads for Hermes. I’ve got Royal Mail and a company called Parcel Hub (who are like a middle man for courier company’s) going through a price war to gain our parcels. Which is good as Parcel Hub have their own software who can also provide API’s as well. Apart from MyHermes they also use Yodel, DHL, Parcelforce, Whistl, DX and Collect+ so if the courier’s have any difficulty then you can move your parcels on to another courier. Hopefully between the two courier’s the API problem will be resolved so the Despatch Manager can be complete.

Hmmm, I don’t know what to suggest as this will either be reliant on MyHermes or someone like Parcel Hub who operate it on your behalf but will usually charge a fee of some sort.

That’s the problem as they want 30p a parcel more. When we started the discussion it was 70p. Does’nt sound a lot but with the volumes we send it will work out to a lot over a year and when you think about it for the same service. But having the API to streamline the packing, to tempting. At least I can sit on it and think it through.
