Hi

I’ve successfully updated my product list csv file through magmi which includes 6 new products and about 30 deleted and some price changes on others. I used ‘create new items & update existing ones’. In Magento I have cleared and flushed caches and reindexed but I cannot see the changes? please help!

I found an older post here:

https://understandinge.com/forum/all-things-coding/magmi-import-issue/

which I followed by checking the local.xml file (all was correct). I then deleted the magmi-importer folder and reinstalled magmi setting up a new login. I tried updating again but still the same problem. Successful install through magmi and no changes in the magento backend.

A NOTE HERE: I did encounter one issue along the way. I changed the folder and login.php file permissions all to 777 as instructed in your tutorial but when I tried to login I got an error screen in the browser telling me that file permissions had to be equal to or lower than 755 so I had no choice but to change the file permissions back to 755. This allowed me to login and proceed with the import.

ONE OTHER POINT OF NOTE: before encountering this issue today I have been successfully using magmi to make changes to my product list since last year. I don’t think there’s been any chnages to the site that should have affected it.

I really hope this is a simple thing i’ve missed!!

Howdy Wayne,

Well from what you’ve mentioned it sounds like you’ve skipped the common mistakes, specifically #8 here https://understandinge.com/magmi-mistakes/

What I would suspect is that one or more required attributes is missing on the new products.

In the Magento admin, go to Catalog > Manage Products > and locate one of the products you imported.

Then go into the product and press save.

If you then get a red warning on one of the fields because it’s not been populated that would explain why it’s not showing on the website.

Also a couple of other daft suggestions:

1. Make sure that the visibility is set appropriately (ie visible!)
2. Make sure that the product has stock and is set to “In Stock” (on the inventory tab)

Besides those I’m not sure.

Hi Matt

Thanks for your reply. Checking back I discovered I had missed 2 columns values ‘status’ and ‘min qty’ I filled these in re-imported and voila!! i can now see the 6 new products. So that is great news, Thanks.

However the products I deleted are all still visible in the Magento backend. I’m selecting ‘Product Deleter v0.0.2’ and ‘Delete children products’

Is there something else i should be doing to get the products deleted?

Thanks Wayne

Hi Wayne,

For the deleter plugin for Magmi you’ll need to add a new column called “magmi:delete” and set a value of 1 for those products.

For example:

"sku","magmi:delete"
"sku123","1"

Also for safety, I would not mix an import with new, updates and products to be deleted.
