Looking for developement help for Magmi. Long story short. We HAD a clone site of our production, magento 1.9.01. We initially from the tutorial installed magmi on our dev.website.com address. I could never get installed on our production site. website.com. FYI…Since then I have not been able to install on new magento instance either.
To get around this, in the configuration area of magmi I set the info for our production database (instead of dev) and have been able to successfully import many products.
Due to other reasons we needed to restore from backup on both production and dev sites. Now, in Magmi file upload area I have lost abilitiy to add particular file to upload. Also noticed that var-import folder is gone.
I have several concerns. 1. I am technically not able to get a full undertanding of the changes that magmi makes and how that effects my overal set up (and that’s ok). 2. I want to get magmi correctly installed on my production site w/ login url on production site. Then I can backup and create a new clone production to act as dev site. Currently dev site is now sandbox as I cannot determine what differences are between production.
At this point, I want to get this looked at by a finer mind than mine. I have reached out to dzine-hub. Do you have other development options I can explore with folks that are familar w/ magmi and the understandingE version? I’m having a peculiar issue w/ m2e as well where I can get installed on our dev site and new magento instance but not production site. I’m thinking they may be related. A developer fluent in both would be a blessing right now. Please advise.
Just wanted to follow up on post so others know resolution. Chris did contact me as well as I reached out to Dzine as you mentioned in the blog post. Both groups ready and willing and responsive which is great. I feel I gave them a banana as I’m fairly certain my site was altered by my host making troubleshooting difficult. Long story short, we had both m2e and magmi set up and working in our clone/dev environment. When we went to add to production site everything broke down, site was fairly fried, magmi, m2e not working. Called host to restore from offsite backup which I pay extra for (for issues like this). During restore there appeared to be some issues as it was over 30 hours before production and dev site working properly. After restore, public files and database that were backup were renamed. Still couldn’t get Magmi/m2e in. Contacted m2e as you recommended and worked with them (paid) to get m2e working. At this point I was in the middle of sharing Magmi concerns with the 2 folks you recommended. Took m2e off the task list as that was fixed. While waiting for some communication from both groups, for whatever reason I decided to try, the magmi installer url from understande. And UNBELIEVEABLY it worked. I could not however advance through the installer. I found out if I manually typed in the url key (different page numbers 1,2,3,4) I could advance through the setup. Then I tried the next button from page 4. I could not advance to login. I used the previously working dev address for magmi with production url and there I was at the magmi login screen but could not create password. I found documentation from you guys about creating. txt file and changing login.php file. I went into my development site and pulled the 2 files over, changed the passcodes and copied to production site. IT WORKED!! I couldn’t duplicate this in a million years but I am up and running. That’s my story. I would have without hesitation employed one of the two folks you recommended and that’s my main point to share, is that there is help out there. Fortunately, but unfortunately I did not get a chance to work with them.
Wow that is some journey you have been on! Thanks for sharing and glad to hear you managed to get through it all, it does sound like you had a bit of a dodgy setup which has hindered your progress somewhat!
