Replly from simple helix

If you are just extracting the files and trying to run the program that would explain the error, you have to create a new database/user and replace the default information in the configuration file to use it.

i think database user is not created. what shall i do now ?

Hi Krishna,

You do not need to create a new database user to use Magmi.

I’m not sure what to suggest other than pointing you in the direction of the video tutorial that takes you through the steps which is here https://understandinge.com/tutorial/imp-0004/

Hey, I noticed there (finally) is a new version of Magmi (0.7.21) out. Could I simply install that replacing the version which came with your installer?

Howdy Chris,

There are some subtle differences between the developers version of Magmi and the UE version.

You’re welcome to install the developers version along side the UE version, but do note it doesn’t have a friendly user interface and no installation wizard.

I’m waiting on a new developer hire at the moment, this is going to be one of their first jobs to bring the UE version up to date, add the tweaks I’ve made and a couple of the extra plugins into the UE bundle as well.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for the prompt reply, I already figured Magmi would probably not be stock in the installer hence I asked here first. I will check periodically for a new version of yours and until then use the current one.

Thanks again,
Chris

Hey guys.. I have Magmi installed but when I tried to import the test product I got an error?

1:SQLSTATE[28000] [1045] Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: NO) –

Does anyone know what this means, and how to fix it?

I am wanting to import my products from eBay and put them on Magento so I can then list them on Amazon and Rakuten. Is Magmi the best way to do this?

Hi,

That error says that the database details entered in Magmi are incorrect.

See the video tutorial here on how to set this up https://understandinge.com/course/importing-products-magento/ and if you’re using the developers version of Magmi from GitHub, then you’ll need to enter the details set in your app/etc/local.xml file.

With regards to the import from eBay, you’ll need to create the products first and Magmi will help you get them into Magento quickly.

I cannot set up magmi after uploading files….

403 Forbidden

You don’t have permission to access /magmi-importer/web/installation/ on this server.

+ Changing permissions did not work Yell

Hi Erick,

This is definitely a file permissions issue, so do check the permissions on the magmi-importer/ and web/ and if it continues, contact your web hosting provider for help as they’ll be able to check them for you.

Hi Matt and Dave,

I’m running magento on localhost under windows with xampp. I have had trouble with the developers magmi – the “profile not saved” error.

I tried using your installer and am getting both permission messages and local.xml not found messages.

After following the manual install instructions, I get the same errors.

magmi-importer/web/installed.txt exists
How do I change the permissions under windows? I tried using chmod from cygwin and the installer gives me the save errors?
ls -l shows drwxrwxrwx for web/login.php state/all conf/all and conf,plugins,state,web from the magmi-importer folder.

Howdy Tzvi,

I’m sorry we can’t help with local installations, the UnderstandingE version of Magmi is meant to be run in proper web hosting rather than local development versions.

Matt

PS. It probably has something to do with apache not being run as administrator. That would be my first guess.

Oh Snap,

The manual install instructions DO work. You guys are doing a great job with these videos and instructions. I had been trying to reload the same magmi-importer/web/installation over and over again. Why didn’t it work after the manual instructions? Because I was still running the installation URL. Once I went to magmi-importer/web/ everything worked charmingly.

Thanks again for an extremely helpful site.

Tzvi

p.s. I wonder if it would be practical to add a line to your installation code: If file_exists(magmi-importer/web/installed.txt) header(“Location: magmi-importer/web/magmi.php”); or would be preferable to leave the script available for re-installation.

Hey Tzvi,

Glad to hear you got to the bottom of it, and thanks for your kind words, we’re so happy to hear you are finding our vids useful :)

As for Magmi, me and Matt have decided that the course is going to be re-done probably sooner rather than later. A year on not only is our recording quality better but we also have a list of common problems people face with the beast that is Magmi which we can hopefully address in the new vids. This will also see an update to the UE Magmi so any changes will be saved until the new guides go Live, currently we don’t have an estimated time of when this will be.

I have just installed magmi, the configuration tabs has all the correct details and I can select a csv.file. However once I try to select “Save Profile (default)” I get sent back to the log in page, I have tried uninstalling and installing but saving the profile always sends me back to the login page. any suggestions please

Let me check with Matt and see if he knows what could be causing you to not progress through as normal.

Thanks Dave

I have just tried on a fresh install of 1.9.1 and the same issue is occurring. I noticed that I can create a new profile but once I hit save profile, I get sent back to the log in page however once logged back in the profile is there. Attempting to run the new profile also sends me back to the log in page

Howdy,

I’m really not sure on this one I’m afraid, you’ve ruled out the web browser being an issue, so it has to be something relating the the hosting enviorment. To what I’m not sure.
