Hi

The URL you need to use is

http://domain.com/magmi-import…..stallation

Once you’ve seen this let me know so I can delete the URL and would recommend you do the same from your post.

Hi Dale,

The username and password is stored in the login.php file that is stored in this folder:

/magmi-importer/web/

If you open this file up and near the top you’ll see something like this:

/*
User login details
*/
$userinfo = array(
‘username’ => ‘your_user_name’,
‘password’ => ‘your_password’
);

This is your username and password.

Does that help you?

Matt

Hi Jeff,

Take the “setup” part out of the URL and it’ll work.

So it looks like this:

mydomain.com/magmi-importer/web/installation/

And…. My bad, I have just updated the supporting article with the path.

Matt
PS. I have removed the full link in your post as well for security.

Hi Matt
I have an error once logged in to Magmi:

Session Path Warning
It appears that the session directory used in your hosting is not writable :(
Contact your web-hosting provider to ensure that the directory “/var/lib/php/session” is writeable.

Hi Matt,

I have saved my matt_dave_test file in open office but when i went to transfer from my desktop in filezila, the file name changed to .~lock.matt_dave_test.csv# and after copying it across to my site it did not show in the magmi drop down menu. so i had to use google drive to get it to work.

Thanks Jeff

Hi Greg,

Ah ha, that was the bit of extra code I added in just before the guides went live to catch this.

There is a check in the admin to make sure that the sessions directory is writeable AND readable.

If it’s not, then you’ll need to contact your hosting provider to make sure the web user (normally apache) can write sessions to this directory.

Hi Jeff,

Thats the lock file from OpenOfiice, you want the other file which hasn’t got lock in it’s name. You may have to close the main CSV file to see it.

Hi Matt
My hosting company have said it is a “false positive”. Will try and test this evening.

When you said “There is a check in the admin” where did you mean?
Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg,

If this is causing a false positive (which it can do due to file permissions in unix), in the folder “magmi-importer\web” there is a file called “magmi.php“, near the top there is a check for the sessions path.

The code looks like this at line 7 to 22

if( !is_writable( session_save_path() ) && !is_readable( session_save_path() ) ){
// Pants, we have a sessions issue. Better let the user know
?>

<div class="warning_msg">
<p>
<strong>Session Path Warning</strong>
<br/>
It appears that the session directory used in your hosting is not writable :(
<br/>
Contact your web-hosting provider to ensure that the directory "<?php echo session_save_path(); ?>" is writeable.
</p>
</div>

<?php
}

If you comment this out with /* at the beginning (before where it says if() and */ <?php at the end (after the } symbol ), this will stop this message from being triggered.

Update: End it with */ <?php

So lines 7 to 22
Now look like this?

/*if( !is_writable( session_save_path() ) && !is_readable( session_save_path() ) ){
// Pants, we have a sessions issue. Better let the user know
?>

Session Path Warning

It appears that the session directory used in your hosting is not writable :(

Contact your web-hosting provider to ensure that the directory “” is writeable.

<?php
}*/ <?php

When I did this the page wouldn’t load.
Thanks
Greg

Hi Greg,

Whoops I was right the first time before I edited the reply.

Drop the “<?php" at the end.

Hi Greg,

Yea I think I’m going to remove that part as someone else had the same issue as well.

When I first tried, I got a 403 message. Found that it was a file permissions problem. The folders and files within the magmi-importer were set to 700, so changed folders to 755 and files to 644 and I’m now seeing the install screen. Hope this helps someone.
