Is there any reason why magmi would not update magento backend after perfect import?

At this point in my Magmi education, I have broken a larger spreadsheet down and am importing in small pieces, a configurable product at a time with 3-25 variations.
I have started with the first block of 7 products (1 config, 6 simple) and the import is working perfectly.

When I go to change price, description, whatever thru import nothing changes. Have tried all three magmi modes, updated .csv, transferred to server correctly. I’m only viewing the product from the backend. I’ve even tried refreshing all the caches and doesn’t work.

I don’t get it. There are some other peculiar things I have noticed in the last few weeks of importing such as 1. image labels applied to frontend but cannot see on backend? 2. Image labels only working for media gallery (from magmi wicki). 3. The image I make main image for configurable product does not show label given. 4. My different config options need a different price. This has to be set up from mag backend, associated products. not magmi price field. I’m guessing that meant for Amz/Ebay

It seems like as I try to grow out the spreadsheet to cover everything I need, something other smaller issue arrives that was not there. In this instance Magmi editing products perfectly. When I get pricing correct for diffent markets, assign pricing in associated products for config product, fill out Ebay/Amazon product info, get a perfect import. Then go to edit anything minor and nothing is happening. I feel like I start running and then keep falling down. It’s great to import but I want to edit :) Any advice. Thank you, Nick

Hey Nick,

Matt is our resident Magmi expert so I am going to ask him to take a look at your question for you.

This sounds like something a bit funky going on here so hopefully Matt will know the solution.

Dave:

I’ve got this one handled, please take off list..!!! Forgot to post back.

Problem: Operator Error: Solution: My config products have different configs per product category which causes you to use new spreadsheet in my case. Your examples show the same product configs. I beat my head around the spreadsheet for quite some time. The solution was in the first row. I thought I remember hearing someone say something like “Magmi works so the problem is probably the operator”.

Thanks for getting back. Nick

Oh that’s great Nick! Glad you got it sorted!

Yea Matt did a blog post a few weeks ago on the top 10 Magmi mistakes, where he made the point Magmi just works and 99% of errors are human error :)
