Firstly, I just wanted to say thank you again for your assistance with the M2E set up! You really made it look easy!!
OK I am now facing a problem with Magmi. I had this installed before the eBay store (on magento) was set up correctly.
Now when I go to import my products I am getting an error message and instead of saving to the existing categories EG 80 = Families, when importing it is creating a new category named 80.
So all the products are showing in Magento, just not in their correct categories.
I am assuming that this is something to do with the store name, but I don’t know how to change this as I had Magmi set up for me.
Any assistance would be appreciated.
If you’ve got the UE version of Magmi, then the categories plugin is enabled by default.
The categories plugin doesn’t use ID’s it uses the paths/names of the categories.
So instead of using 80, you would add in something like:
for the categories header for Magmi.
Try one and see if that works,
PS. I’m glad we were able to get those store views sorted :)
I am too with the store views, now if I could get magmi to work I will be walking on air :)
This is the error message I am getting
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/xxxxxx/public_html/magmi-importer/web/progress_details.php on line 23
I tried using the full category names but it still didnt work. Any other suggestions?
The category shows as Default Category,Default Category,LilysPlayhouseComAu,LilysPlayhouseComAu,320
If you want to have a quick squeez in magento the password etc is the same :)
Line 23! I worked around that a few days ago (at last!!! It was soo simple in the end).
Here is the file you can overwrite on your Magmi so that it spills out what went wrong to you:
The separate that you use depends on what you have set, the default is “/” and you’ll see the option if you expand it on the plugins list down the Magmi page.
Make sure that the plugin is enabled too, it should have a tick next to it.
We know that categories plugin works, so it’ll be either the header in the CSV file (categories), the path or separator incorrect or the plugin not enabled.
OK installed the file.
Where do I see the area that has a tick?
I am using UE Magmi, I have the import tab and the configuration tab, but can not see anywhere to make sure that the plug in as the tick next to it or where to see if the plugin is enabled?
Hold that thought just found the section. Going in now to check it out.
ok, what is the pug in called, there is a big list here :)
ok think it is the ‘on the fly category creator/importer’ it is set to ‘/’ which is what I have used.
the error in magmi is the same
My on the fly configuration is identical to your screenshot.
I am still just getting this error:
35 error(s) found Hide Details
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/xxxxx/public_html/magmi-importer/web/progress_details.php on line 23
But it doesn’t give any more details.
See this thread to get the errors to show up https://understandinge.com/forum/all-things-coding/magmi-errors-and-warnings-blank/#p4142 you need to update one of the files for this to show.
And the problem is…..
You have the wrong heading in the CSV for column D, change “catagory_ids” to “categories” and it will work.
catagory_ids is for specifying specific categories by number and categories is for use with the categories plugin and you can address them by name and path.
Hope that helps!
I will go through that thread now.
Unfortunately I have tried category_id / catagory / catagories / catagories_id but none of them change it.
I have been testing them all but am still getting the same result.
I am thinking it is the store directory, since we added the eBay store, as that is the only thing that has changed but I dont know where to check what the ‘store’ on magmi should be set on. currently it is default.
PS since changing it back to ‘categories’ the categories section on magento is now empty. I have used test product SKU SF1111
It shows on front end under search just not in a category.
Further to this, I added the progress detail file to ALL the web files I have. I have 1. Magmi 2. Magmi-importer and 3.magmi-install
I assume I have so many because Sebastien first installed the original and then I asked that he install your template (as it is easier to read).
I still do not get a description of the error 23 though. Very frustrating.
This is extremely rich from me as I’m the worst at spelling :D It’s the header name that is spelt incorrectly and causing it not to work for the categories.
I’ve made a quick video tutorial below to explain and included some extra tips for you too.
The file that I used is attached to this post at the bottom too, so you can use it in your Magento system.
The allowed headers are:
1. category_ids – where you set the ID numbers of the categories (shown in the video) – See http://sourceforge.net/apps/me…..categories
2. categories – Where you can address them by name (also shown in the video) – http://sourceforge.net/apps/me…..r/importer
Hi Matt & dave,
Thank you for taking the time to do the tut for me, I really appreciate it. I cannot believe it all came down to a typo!
Now, please don’t sigh, LOL but I have it working, it is importing my test product, when I go to Manage Products it shows the product there, but when I go to Categories there are no ticks next to the categories, so the product isn’t going anywhere.
I can do a search on the front end for ‘test product’ and it is there but just not assigned to a category.
I have been through all the information, and it appears at face value I am doing it all correctly, and it appears this way in the manage products but obviously something has been missed :(
I have reindexed, cleared cache but still no cigar!
If you used that file attached above it should have created the categories on your site. Can you go back, re import the example file and confirm if it’s showing in Catalog > Management products and then on the categories tab as being assigned to those categories?
Yay it works!!!
Your file imported fine and so I deducted that it was the category that was the problem (Homes).
The category name was homes but the redirect on it was homes and shops. I deleted the category then replaced with just Homes and we are now cooking with gas!
Amazing how clear things become when you do them when the sun is still up
Matt, you have the patience of a saint, I can not thank you enough, as I would be still floundering in the dark without your help.
I am now going to enjoy spending the evening finally getting some new products up! YAY
