Guys: Need some advice on assigning products to categories on magmi import for multiple root catalog. Magmi is now working well again and starting to add images to spreadhseet. I am down to related/upsell products and focusing on categories, websites, and stores.

I realize the tutuorial series only speaks about one store view, one root catalog. I am hoping this is an easy answer for you guys as Magmi is working and I have taken specific screenshots. I have read all the info on github, understande, and blinkdata but must be missing some easy.

Can you explain what specific text I should be using to get product to assign to specific website and category. It’s line item #10 on .csv screenshot. The only reason I have changed store value is due to what I have read to get to put product in different root catalog. Getting same “cannot find site root with names ” Magmi error no matter weather I include website column or not and change store value from “admin” to locksetstop_en”.

Can I set website, store, and category in Magmi and what value do I need from my setup. The 4 screenshots should show all the areas involved.

Thank you, Nick magmi-category-import-different-root-category-magmi-screenshot.pngImage Enlarger

Hi Nick,

For the websites: include each website the product needs to be assigned to with the code, separated with a comma. For both websites as shown in the picture, the entry would be: “base, locksetstop_com”. Magmi will then add the product to both websites.

For each category the product needs to be added to, enter the categorie ID. E.g. in your case closet_hardware would be 347. Separated with a comma (if that is the separator configured in Magmi… Then ensure everything is enclosed in ” ”

For example:
“sku”,”category_ids”,”websites”, etc
“sku_1″,”73, 200, 84″,”website1_com, website2_com”, etc

Bob: Thank you!

I could not get to work and tried several variations. The store column is set to admin in the example spreadsheets. When I changed that to match actual store view everything worked perfectly on my test products.

Worked without the “quotes” as well. I had removed them when it wasn’t working thinking trying to troubleshoot. Thanks again for the help.

Howdy Nick,

A quick note, the “websites” column is obsolete and the “store” should be used.

This changed ages ago (before our tutorials, hence why thats not in them), see here http://wiki.magmi.org/index.ph…..w_products

Matt:

Got it. It was working but I was going with three columns, store, website, category. Removed the website column and the upload went fine and created the category with the correct store. Spreadsheet is now current.

Thanks for pointing that out.
