Hi Sebastian,

My hosting provider sent me this reply;

It may be simpler for them just to change the php version of the hosting with us

They can set that to php 5.4 in the control panel and that should do this automatically.

Not sure what they mean by this.

They’re right: magic_quotes_gpc , this “obsolete” , “pseudo security”, “data altering” feature of PHP has been dropped in PHP 5.4

However, php 5.4 would also require particular attention for your magento installation.

see this magento blog entry

depending on your magento version, you may need to apply a patch.

I would question such a choice. Setting specific php_flag should not be that difficult on your current PHP version, and PHP 5.4 migration might be a more “disruptive” option.

Hi Sebastian,

Sorry to be a pain. I am just wanting to ensure my hosting service understand the request as it is a bit like Chinese Whisper.

To clarify. You are suggesting I DO NOT update to php 5.4 and to ONLY turn off magic_quotes_gpc?

Thanks

This was expected ;)

Your “corrupted” magmi profile configuration has not changed yet.
removing the cause that corrupted it (ie: the magic_quotes thing), is a first step. now you need to update the configuration.

now, all you have to do is :
– go to your profile configuration in magmi settings.
– open the CSV datasource configuration panel (by clicking on configure link)
– in CSV enclosure field , just enter ” (the double quote char) , instead of what should be there (ie : a lot of \\\\ and a ” )
– save your profile

Then you’ll be able to import without problem.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the help.

I can not see a CSV datasource configuration panel, but I can see things listed on the CSV options section. I just wanted to double check what I think it is I need to edit as I believe the Magmi I am using may be set out differently to what @Sebastian_ is guiding me from.

This is what my import page looks like with the CSV section on it

This is my configuration page;

Howdy,

It’s the section called “CSV Options” and the box that has all the ///// symbols in.
