Magmi is not giving me a csv file to import – no drop down menu
“No csv files found in /home/bigbrand/public_html/magmi-importer/.var/import”
Has the path been set up incorrectly? – there is no .var/import available under the magmi-importer folder.
How do I sort this out…? Reinstall Magmi?

Howdy Debbie,

No need to reinstall, we’ve just got a path problem :)

Where it says “CSVs base directory” make sure that this is exactly this without the quotes: “var/import”

Now FTP into your site and make sure that the folder called “import” exists in the “var” folder and that there is csv files in there. <= Tip here make sure that the files end with .csv as Magmi does not recognise or process .xls or .xlsx files.

And try again (go to magmi and refresh the page)

If still no joy, try the set the file permissions for the import folder to 777 and see if that does it.

Would you like to try that and let me know how you get on?

Thanks for very quick reply – I was tearing my hair out and have found an extension which is based on Magmi but has built an interface from within Magento. Fast Product Importer from MODULABS – I might have wasted £40 but I will be guinea pig and find out!).

I deleted the original Magmi files, and reinstalled from scratch (will report back as soon as I have finished installing it.) I have now set permissions to 777 which might have been problem, but will report back here asap….

Just tried using a csv to import sku and qty as shown in vid, have also set file permission to 777 in import file but still getting the following error:

Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Optimizing magmi
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Adding index MAGMI_EAOV_OPTIMIZATION_IDX on eav_attribute_option_value
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Already optmized!
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Adding index MAGMI_CPEM_OPTIMIZATION_IDX on catalog_product_entity_media_gallery
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Already optmized!
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Adding index MAGMI_CCEV_OPTIMIZATION_IDX on catalog_category_entity_varchar

I am saving in CSV, but its comma separated values in excel, there does not seem to be an option for comma delimited, only a tab delimited.

Im using a Mac, but everything else is fine on it, anyone else with this problem that can help? How to I save as comma delimited?

Thanks.

Hi Roopal,

Is there an option for using “Windows CSV” or similar?

Yes that option is there, also tried it following along with just SKU and q update still same error and this also showing:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in ….

Any Idea why this wont work? Also just noticed that I have data feed manager also installed, would this be causing any interference at all?

Sorry just ignor all of that, that did fix the issue, I was using capitals for SKU instead of lower case, changed that and saved in windows csv and its worked perfectly.

Thanks.

The SKU themselves are capitals, however the title header needed to be in lower case as it is in magento I was writing SKU instead of sku.

Hi all,

I have a question relating to updating current inventory using magmi. Like in the video guide if I just want to update sku and qty, however if the child sku does not already exist will magento recognise that its a child sku assosiated with the parent (configerable) product?

Or would I have to create sku first and then the update would work in the future? As this is what I am currently doing using channel grabber, but it takes so much time as I have to go into amazon and do it and also in ebay and reimport into cg so it all syncs up.

Anyone using this at the moment and knows if it works to just add in the new varition sku?

Regards

Roopal

Hi Roopal,

If you’re just importing sku & qty, then the product really does need to be in Magento first. In a larger import you can then link up the simple products to the configurable products and Magento does need to be told about this.

Does that make sense?

I have same issue as original poster. See attached. Did you understand what’s causing it? Path, permissions and file formats are OK but not joy.Screen-Shot-2018-06-25-at-13.11.05.pngImage Enlarger

Hi Dimitri, you need to check the database settings in the ‘Configuration’ tab in Magmi at the top. I had this problem a few weeks ago and it was due to the wrong database being offerd. Once the correct database settings are listed it should then give you the option for which .csv file to import.

Database settings are fine. still no joy. i have went back to installation video to make sure permissions are ok. that still doesn’t resolve it. Any other ideas?

EDIT:

magmi looks for var/import in it’s own directory magmi-importer (magmi-importer/var/import) rather than magento root (var/import). Why?

SOLVED:

using absolute path instead of relative path

/home/XXXXX/public_html/var/import instead of var/import does the job for me.
