Hi All,

I’ve had my magento site running for a few years now. I’m on CE 1.8.1.0 and I use ultimo 1.9.4. I made a development site with the ultimo theme and got it fixed up how I wanted it. Instead of just using the new ultimo theme with the existing database I had some of the original database tables moved to the new develop database. This brought over my existing customers, invoices, history and so on. This was the sketchy part. I used a company that does this because it was over my head. There were a few things the were wrong after the initial migration and they fixed them. I only mention this because I think it has to do with my issue. I can not get magento to calculate sales tax for any state. It worked on the original site before the migration. The database tables that have to do with sales tax are in the database. I double checked all of the settings in my magento admin according to the awesome understandinge video #5 Tax setting for tax registered business (USA). I think the problem lies in the database and database tables but I do not know what to do at this point? I do not want to go back to the company that did the migration because they have started charging me above and beyond for any help weather it works or not and I’m feeling a little taken advantage of at this point. Any suggestions or where to look?

Mark

I just wanted to add something else because I’m not sure if it matters or not. I thought I’d go back and delete any tax rules and tax zones and rates. I deleted all of the tax rules but magento will not all me to delete my tax rate because it is used in a rule. The problem here is that I have deleted all of the rules. I tried to recreate the rule but magento will not allow it saying the rule already exists but like I mentioned I deleted all of the rules. Ideas, suggestions? Thanks for anything.

Hi Mark,

Oooo this sounds like a tricky one. I don’t tend to delve deep into the tables myself, that is much more Matt’s territory. I will ask him to take a look at your posts and see if he has any ideas.

Dave

I’m just going back over some of the m2epro settings to make sure that doesn’t have any effect on it but I can’t imagine it does. Thank you for looking.

Hi Mark, Just wondering if you got this resolved and what the issue was? Have a similar problem which I’ve been unable to get to the bottom of.

Cheers

Hi Chris,

No I never figured it out. To add to it, M2Epro amazon does add the sales tax but M2Epro ebay doesn’t although I have an error code. I did read someplace that If I deleted a certain database table then it would recreate what I needed but I can’t seem to find that post. It was on another message board not here. I don’t know what is wrong with your set up but mine is definitely messed up from moving some but maybe not all of the database tables. If you find anything I’d love to hear what you did.

Hi Mark,

Have just managed to fix the issue. Please try this to see if it fixes your issue also;

Go into Customers > Customer Groups, then open up each customer group and click save.

Hi Chris,

You the man! That seems to have fixed it. I have a few more test sales to do but that seems to be adding the tax back to the states it is supposed to. Where did you find the answer or were you just fiddling around with it?

Thank you again.

Was digging about in the database and some values didn’t look right so using the Magento save function is usually my first port of call if something doesn’t look right. Glad to hear it fixed your issue and if you get stuck with anything in future then you can contact me on the options below Wink
