Help.

I am uploading products to Magento via magmi which works perfectly until it lgets to line 16. I have tried solving this by making several smaller files which work perfectly as they are less than 16 lines so its not the file. I thought it was a timing out issue so use the cli method which works perfectly up to line 16. Then for both methods nothing else is uploaded.
Here is the error message I keep on getting (same for both methods)

plugin;Magmi_CSVDataSource;warning:CSV Datasource v1.3 – warning: line 16 , wrong column number : 44 found over 47, line skipped

The same error message is posted for every line after that.

Any advice gratefully received

Paul

Hi Paul,

surely there is an error in your csv file.

Verify which character is used as the csv seperator in the Magmi csv options section. This character may be inadvertently used in your data?
Alternatively open the csv file in Excel or OpenOffice and verify that the nr of columns is indeed ok.

Or attach your csv file here for me to check.

Thanks for your reply Bob,

I thought it was an error in my csv file, if I split it up into smaller files it works perfectly and I cannot see anything on line 16. I could be missing something as I have been looking at it for so long.

Here is the link to the file https://www.dropbox.com/s/3rxyf75kozvsa9f/avon_summer_comp_cli1.csv?dl=0

The csv separator is a comma

I’m sure it is operator error but cannot see my error

Paul,

I looked into your csv file. Here are a few issues I found you need to look into:
1. the header seems incomplete.
– missing fieldname after att_eby_is_externalnoise
– missing fieldname after att_cost
Not sure that Magmi will have an issue with this? The datarecords do contain data for these fields…

2. When importing the file into OpenOffice, it seemed the file was not in UTF 8. Better to save it as a UTF 8 file. Excel does not do this well. I use OpenOffice to export to csv.

3. Not all text fields are enclosed in ” “. Probably a good idea to ensure they are. And then configure this in Magmi as well. OpenOffice does this nicely.

4. Record 5 (sku = 1416560HAVZT5) seems to have some malformed data, fields: att_eby_is_fuelefficiency att_eby_is_wetgripperf att_eby_is_externalnoise
Similar for records 79, 90 and more.

After importing your file into OpenOffice, I re-exported to csv, in UTF 8 and ensuring all text fields are enclosed with quotes. See attached file. This should import with Magmi, bar the missing fields as mentioned.

Success,

Bob

Thanks Bob,

I was looking across line 16 for an error different to line 15. I will give it a go and see what happens, it confused me because I just made several files from it smaller than 16 lines and the products uploaded fine, even with the errors you have show me. Maybe it is was just an overload of problems that stopped it working

I haven’t used open office before and or UTF 8, is it a simple process to save as a UTF 8 file?

Bob,

Success, once I changed those couple of errors and changed it to utf8 in open office it uploaded fine.

Thank you for your assistance

Have a great day

Hi Bob,

The csv files uploaded the tradition way but they are getting larger so thought I would use the cli interface worked ok on the smaller csv files. After your suggestions I have put them all in utf8 format, now I get this message after using php magmi.cli.php -profile=default -mode=create -logger=CLILogger. Its probably not connected but thought I best ask first as its the only thing I have changed knowingly.

Could not open input file: magmi.cli.php

Thanks

Paul

Paul,

My first hunch is to not use the default profile but create a specific profile for the input file you want to import. Save this and then refer to that profile in the cli.
Probably seems strange, but I remember seeing a post about something similar.
