Hi,

Not sure if anyone else has come across this, I’m running Magento 1.9.2.1 with Ultimo Theme, and I have had reports that during checkout customers are getting error 503, more specifically when they try to apply a discount code. I know the code is valid as tested however during testing I also got the same error, each time I refreshed my browser and tried again same problem.

thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

Please try clearing your caches.

And in your main Magento directory, look for maintenance.flag file and remove that

Hope that will solve the 503 error

Cheers

Hi Badeth,

No maintenance.flag file and yes clearing cache appeared to work, but it keeps happening (but not for everyone) not sure how to avoid it happening in the future.

thanks

Hi Badeth,

I’ve done some digging and it appears to be connected to cart rules, more specifically for discount codes applicable to specific groups of products. I haven’t managed to find a solution though other than don’t use cart rules (which limits the functionality too much). Can anyone suggest a fix or alternatively an extension that handles discount codes differently.

thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

Hmmm this is a weird one, have you spoken to the guys who run the cart rules extension to see if they have come across this before?

Hi Dave,

Its the standard Magento Cart Rules that are causing me the problem. It would appear on the web that this is a common problem. Only seems to be an issue when applying to a category of products, if no conditions seems to work fine.

thanks

Hmmm, have you maybe tried asking Chris Astley? He is my go to guy when weird things happen in Magento, ha ha he might have come across it before
