Hi all, i’m in the process of building a magento product database and i’m struggling to say the least…
I’ve spent the past day just tying myself in knots trying to figure out how to set up this CSV file and i’m wondering if anyone can take a look at it for me? It is clearly something I am doing wrong!
As a bit of a background, it’s an ecommerce site selling ink / toner cartridges, there are absolutely loads of categories as this is set so each printer is a category. each product is therefore relevant to loads of categories as they work in multiple printers.
There are also a few custom attributes in the file, not sure if this causes an issue? I’ve also not added in related products / upsells yet which I plan to do once I have sorted this issue.
With the current file created in openoffice i’m getting the following error:
“plugin;Magmi_CSVDataSource;warning:CSV Datasource v1.3 – warning: line 1 , wrong column number : 28 found over 27, line skipped”
Any help would be greatly received!

While I’ve got a thread open as well, a quick one… How easy is it to upgrade my product database to use M2E afterwards? It’s something we will be looking at in maybe 6 months time once we’ve got everything set up and running smoothly. Is it something I should be setting up from now or is it fairly easy to integrate?
Daft question, does the file actually load?
The message above is a warning, not an error so the data was imported into Magento.
Besides that I would focus the attention on the description, short_description & categories columns as they’re going to be the most likely culprits.
There is a but though… If you’re working on your data now, it would make sense to at least consider the marketplaces in their setup, such as the best practice attributes in this course https://understandinge.com/course/getting-started/ so you don’t have to come back to them again later.
And also a daft one to note is, that if you’re not already selling on the marketplaces, do the website first and then come back to them afterwards,
Hope that makes sense!

Thanks for the reply, I will look in to the best practice attributes as I think it will save a lot of hassle in the future, I’m already using bullet points using HTML within the description attribute, it would make more sense to do it like you have under individual attributes.
It isn’t currently loading as I get the following:
Skus imported OK:0/0
