Hi Mark,

This usually means it didn’t like something, if possible can you attach the file you were using to a reply for me to take a look at?

Thanks Matt

I managed to figure out what the issue was.

Firstly with FTP’ing new CSV files up Magmi is not happy unless ‘Save Profile’ is clicked each time before pressing ‘Run Import’.

Secondly in my CSV file (which is a robot web-scrape of a few of my ASINs from Amazon) some of the product titles had sneaky commas in the title. Once these commas were cleared out and then the file was re-uploaded as per the first step (above) all was fine.

More puzzling though and still an outstanding issue is the ‘_category’ field. As when I tried to import via Magento this accepted ‘Internal Use/Working On’ but when importing via Magmi this does not seem to work and the field is blank. Any thoughts on what this should be rather me going through another round of trial and error. I suspect it could be due to the ‘/’?

Hi Folks,

Been trying and trying…
I thought I’ve found a very possible option in another video here on this site:
https://understandinge.com/tutorial/imp-0007/
and this one:
https://understandinge.com/tutorial/imp-0009/
Followed them both…and still no luck!
I’ve attached the csv with the headers I’ve found in Magento.

One thing I noticed is that within Magento, Root Catalog has the option under “Display Settings” called “Available Product Listing Sort By”
This is a mandatory field, but has no ID name, so I don’t know what to call this field as header in the csv.

Any help is still many many appriciated

Luit

Hi mark,

It’s not a puzzle the magmi headers DO NOT match the Magento headers.

Instead you’ll want to use “categories” for categrories anything with an underscore at the beginning shouldn’t be used.

Hi all,

Some great news from this side…I’ve got it 99% working!!!
Still gives me the “23” error, but it’s placing my test product.

Now, there are still some things unclear, some fields left empty:
– Stock, “quantity” and “in stock” stay empty
– Images, no images are placed with the category
– Category, no category is set

Should this still have something to do with the headers?

Greetings,
Luit

Before I forget,
I’ve searched this forum for the “categories” thingy, and there are some questions out there with some answers that helped people.
None of the answers did the trick for me.
I understand that categories is a Magmi thing rather than a Magento thing.
In my csv file I’ve set the header to “categories” and a give it the name “test”
After that upload it, and run it in Magmi… the product is added, but not under any category…no category is created.
Has this got something to do with the root category?
I can’t figure out what the actual name of the root category is.
When I right click on it (inspect element), it say’s “group_4name”, but that’s the same name as for the subcategories.
I’m not getting this one.
Any help would be great to clear this thing about categoeries, roots and subcategories.

Luit

Hi Luit,

For the categories header to work it all needs to be lower case and for the categories plugin to be enabled (which it should be in the UE version of Magmi).

I’ve not seen this not working before, however I have seen Magmi not working too well with / or ‘ symbols. So go careful of those.

Magmi also only uploads images for products, not categories, so check the images tab on the left hand side when editing a product.

“quantity” isn’t the right header, it’s qty, might be worth checking the same files as these have the working headers in them.

Does that help Luit?

Hi Matt,

Got it almost! The only thing that still doesn’t work are the categories.

In my csv I’ve got a header named “categories”
And in the column beneath it I’ve got “Root Catagory/test”

For some reason this does not work, it is not importing the product in the subcategory named “test”

Any clues?

Hi Luit,

I have an idea.

Expand the plugin options for the categories plugin and change the setting from a toward slash to a > symbol.

Hit save profile and then try my top cat>my sub cat and see if that works,

Hey Matt,

Tried that, but no luck.

Just to be sure, you do mean the plugin called:
On the fly category creator/importer v0.2.3

Luit

Hi Luit,

Just saw the csv file.

You have “Root Category/test” remove “Root Category/” from the start and just use “test” or “test>another test”

See the documentation here http://sourceforge.net/apps/me…..r/importer

Matt,

The strangest things are happening here…. I’m back where I’ve started.
Now it doesn’t export anything anymore, even when I return the csv and Magmi to the state as before.

Another thing I noticed, is that Magmi “thinks” the product is still in Magento while it’s not (deleted it)
Here’s the outcome of Magmi after I deleted the product from Magento:

Runtime infos
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Optimizing magmi
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Adding index MAGMI_EAOV_OPTIMIZATION_IDX on mage_eav_attribute_option_value
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Already optmized!
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Adding index MAGMI_CPEM_OPTIMIZATION_IDX on mage_catalog_product_entity_media_gallery
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Already optmized!
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Adding index MAGMI_CCEV_OPTIMIZATION_IDX on mage_catalog_category_entity_varchar
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Already optmized!
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Adding index MAGMI_EA_CODE_OPTIMIZATION_IDX on mage_eav_attribute
Magmi Optimizer v1.0.5 – Already optmized!
Skus imported OK:0/1

Hi,

Been sniffing the interweb, and found some usefull stuff.
Via this URL: http://stackoverflow.com/quest…..of-the-fly I found out how to use categories within Magmi the correct way (for me at least ;-) )

So that problem is solved, and now there’s realy one problem I can’t fix…. the images.
No matter what I try, the images won’t load into Magento.

I’m using for the headers: thumbnail | small_image | image
But still it doesn’t display the images.

Any ideas?

Luit

Hi Matt (and all others),

Great news! Got it all sorted out here, and it’s working like a charm!!!
Got some other plugins activated and configured and that’s got the job well done.

Many many thanks for all the help, and a big “thumbs up” for you, your team and Magmi.

Probably I will annoy you with some more questions in the future…when I expand my webshop or something like that, but for now a big THANK YOU!!!!

Greetings from the Netherlands,
Luit
