Amazon have just opened a new door of opportunity for online sellers whose goods are targeted at young customers, specifically teenagers.
They recently launched the ‘Amazon for Teens’ program, giving 13 to 17-year-olds the ability to create and use their own Amazon account to search and purchase products on their own.
Aside from their parents, teenagers are no doubt a lucrative market for Amazon. In fact, a 2018 survey conducted by online statistics firm, Statista, revealed that 47% of teenagers named the eCommerce giant as their favourite shopping website.
Through ‘Amazon for Teens,’ third-party sellers like you can directly engage with teen shoppers and get a deeper understanding of their needs and wants.
That way, it’ll be easier to market your products to them and convert them into loyal customers.
Get Mum and Dad’s approval
They may be free to create and use their own Amazon account for shopping, but teenagers cannot completely leave their parents out of the picture as their accounts are linked.
That means Mum and Dad get to review their child’s order details and, hopefully, give it the thumbs up.
Parents also have the option to set a spending limit on their child’s account if they don’t want to review every single order. This will automatically approve all of their teenage son or daughter’s orders until they have exhausted their budget.
