Everybody wants a slice of the eCommerce pie, even Adobe Systems Inc. who announced yesterday that they will buy Magento Commerce for $1.68 billion.
The Photoshop developer said the acquisition will allow them to integrate commerce into their Adobe Experience Cloud business and provide better marketing solutions to B2B and B2C customers globally.
Magento is after all the leading eCommerce platform supported by more than 300,000 developers who provide thousands of reliable extensions, which simplify the process of managing and fulfilling orders.
What’s more, it’s used and trusted by the world’s top brands including Canon, Helly Hansen, Paul Smith and Rosetta Stone among others.
As to how the eCommerce market will benefit from this, Brad Rencher, executive vice president and general manager of Digital Experience at Adobe, said:
“Adobe is the only company with leadership in content creation, marketing, advertising, analytics and now commerce – enabling real-time experiences across the entire customer journey.
“Embedding commerce into the Adobe Experience Cloud with Magento enables Adobe to make every moment personal and every experience shoppable.”
Magento CEO Mark Lavelle, who will continue to lead the Magento team as part of Adobe’s Digital Experience business, couldn’t be happier with the union, saying:
“We’re excited to join Adobe and believe this will be a great opportunity for our customers, partners and developer community.”
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of Adobe’s 2018 fiscal year.
